Position Summary
The Level II RT Technician independently performs nondestructive testing inspections using various NDT techniques to identify corrosion, defects, or other detrimental conditions in accordance with specific written criteria. The technician interprets inspection results, prepares reports as per company requirements, and communicates processes, procedures, and findings to customers while supporting and guiding junior personnel.
Essential Job Functions
- Maintains a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by adhering to Company and Customer safety standards, practices, and legal regulations, and alerting others to potential hazards or concerns
- Performs all duties as assigned and adheres to TEAM’s Core Values and Seven Critical Choices
- Assists the Senior Technician and instructs apprentice-level personnel on the job
- Studies to gain additional NDT certifications while gaining hands-on experience in various NDT methods
- Performs duties assigned by the Senior Technician on the job
- Performs supervisory activities over apprentice-level personnel as needed
- Maintains required NDT certifications
- Performs NDT inspections for which certification is held
- Interprets and reports inspection results and maintains documentation of inspection activities
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Understanding of basic math
- Ability to work in Microsoft Word
- Ability to work with computers and computerized equipment
- Ability to read, understand, and communicate in English
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in the NDT field as a certified technician in at least two methods
- Previous Level II certification in a minimum of one method (PT, MT, UT, RT, ET) preferred
- Willingness to travel (0–75%)
- Ability to handle chemicals safely
- Ability to follow instructions
Work Conditions
- Position is based out of a branch or site location
- Field duties require indoor and outdoor work in a plant atmosphere
- Interaction with crew employees, supervisors, and client personnel
- Work performed around production machinery with extreme noise levels
- Required to wear safety equipment as mandated by the safety department
- May work at more than one job site in a day and tolerate climate changes
- Periodic out-of-town travel may be required
Physical and Mental Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds
- Ability to walk and climb, except when performing non-field duties
- Sufficient speech and hearing capabilities to communicate effectively, with or without reasonable accommodation
- Sufficient vision or other powers of observation to perform inspections, with or without reasonable accommodation
- Sufficient manual dexterity to perform routine office duties, with or without reasonable accommodation
- Sufficient personal mobility and physical reflexes to perform duties and travel to off-site locations
- Ability to maneuver within refinery or plant environments, including access to elevated platforms via ladders and stairwells
- Ability to maintain focus and multitask effectively
- Excellent communication skills
