Position Summary:

Mistras Group, Inc. is seeking a qualified and dedicated Level II Non-Destructive Evaluation (NDE) Technician to join their team. The technician will be responsible for performing field and shop work utilizing various NDT techniques, including Ultrasonic Testing (UT), Radiography (RT), Magnetic Particle Testing (MT), and Dye Penetrant Testing (PT). The technician will be required to work with minimal supervision, interpret and document results, and ensure compliance with safety regulations and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set up and calibrate NDT equipment for various testing methods.
  • Conduct NDT tests using the appropriate methods (UT, RT, MT, PT) to detect defects and ensure quality.
  • Interpret and evaluate test results and document findings clearly.
  • Familiar with the scope and limitations of the certified methods, capable of supervising trainees and Level I personnel.
  • Follow all relevant codes, standards, and contractual documents for the methods utilized.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision, identifying and resolving issues in a timely manner.
  • Provide clear and concise reports of test results and evaluations.

Job Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Graduate of a specialized NDT technical program meeting SNT-TC1A standards for UT, RT, MT, or PT.
  • Prior certification as an NDE Level II Technician with at least 1 year of experience, or prior certification as an NDE Level I Technician with adequate field experience hours to qualify for Level II certification.
  • RT Weld Quality certifications are preferred.
  • Industrial Radiographers Certification Card required for all radiographer hires.
  • Completion of a 40-hour Radiation Safety Course preferred (required for radiographers).
  • Must be physically fit and able to carry 50 lbs frequently for radiography work.

  • Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness in completing tasks.
  • Actively promotes and adheres to safety procedures and uses equipment properly.

Working Conditions:

  • Field duties require offshore work, with exposure to various environmental conditions.
  • Interaction with other crew members, supervisors, and clients.
  • Work in areas with high noise levels and industrial machinery.
  • Must be able to wear necessary safety equipment as per company safety regulations.
  • Travel to multiple job sites within a day, with tolerance for climate changes.
  • Periodic out-of-town travel may be required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to frequently lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work in physically demanding environments, including climbing ladders and working at heights.
  • Sufficient clarity of speech, hearing, and vision, with or without reasonable accommodation, to effectively communicate and conduct investigations.
  • Ability to move within various industrial sites, including maneuvering in elevated platforms and confined spaces.
