Position Summary:

MISTRAS Group is actively seeking experienced and certified Level II NDT Technicians to join their growing team in Burr Ridge, IL. The ideal candidates will be qualified in Radiographic Testing (RT), Ultrasonic Testing (UT), and potentially other methods such as Magnetic Particle (MT) and Penetrant Testing (PT). Technicians will be responsible for conducting a wide range of non-destructive testing inspections in accordance with industry standards and company protocols.

This role demands a high level of technical expertise, precision, and reliability to perform field and in-shop inspections, interpret and evaluate results, and ensure compliance with relevant codes and contractual specifications. Successful candidates will demonstrate the ability to work with minimal supervision, direct Level I personnel, and maintain a proactive and safety-first mindset in a fast-paced industrial environment.

Major Responsibilities/Activities:

  • Set up and calibrate NDT equipment.
  • Conduct tests using appropriate NDT techniques such as RT, UT, MT, or PT.
  • Interpret, evaluate, and document test results with clarity and accuracy.
  • Maintain full understanding of the scope and limitations of certified methods.
  • Guide and direct Level I and trainee personnel.
  • Adhere to applicable codes, standards, and contractual specifications.
  • Operate independently, managing tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Analyze information effectively and resolve problems promptly.
  • Maintain accurate and clear documentation and reports.
  • Uphold safety, quality, and operational procedures.

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (required).
  • Graduate of a specialized NDT technical program meeting SNT-TC-1A guidelines in one or more of the following: UT, RT, MT, or PT.
  • Prior Level II certification and minimum one (1) year experience; OR
  • Prior Level I certification with sufficient hours to certify to Level II per SNT-TC-1A.
  • Industrial Radiographer Certification Card (preferred; required for radiography roles).
  • Completion of a 40-hour Radiation Safety Course (preferred; required for radiography roles).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven ability to work in changing environments and handle multiple tasks.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and meet MISTRAS driving standards.

  • May be required to work at multiple jobsites in one day.
  • Must tolerate varying weather and climate conditions.
  • Occasional out-of-town travel may be necessary.

  • Clear vision or corrective alternatives for detailed inspections.
  • Adequate manual dexterity for handling tools and equipment.
