Position Summary:

The Level II NDT Inspector plays a critical role in ensuring the quality and airworthiness of aviation components by performing nondestructive testing (NDT) inspections in compliance with company processes and NAS 410 requirements. This role is responsible for carrying out NDT procedures, interpreting results, maintaining equipment, supervising trainees, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives, all while supporting the organization’s commitment to excellence in aviation maintenance and repair services.

Specific Accountabilities:

  • Ensure functional and acceptable status of nondestructive test equipment in accordance with company procedures.
  • Determine part and component acceptance for surface condition before NDT processes.
  • Perform specified nondestructive testing processes as outlined in shop order work instructions.
  • Inspect and interpret NDT results, marking and documenting any unacceptable discontinuities.
  • Complete documentation of testing processes and results.
  • Clean parts after NDT processes to prepare them for further operations.
  • Perform regular equipment and material maintenance checks and maintain associated records.
  • Collaborate with engineering, inspection, and other personnel to resolve NDT-related issues.
  • Maintain personal NDT qualifications as required by company procedures.
  • Supervise and provide on-the-job training for trainees in NDT processes.
  • Participate in continuous improvement of inspection processes.
  • Cross-train in complementary skills to support production needs.
  • Assist in the cross-training of other technicians to build team capabilities.
  • Observe and comply with all safety requirements, reporting unsafe practices or conditions.
  • Carry out other related duties as assigned.

Technical Requirements:

  • Certified to at least one of the following methods at Level II or III per NAS 410: Fluorescent Penetrant Inspection (FPI), Radiographic Testing (RT), Ultrasonic Testing (UT), or Eddy Current Testing (ET).
  • Ability to provide evidence of meeting NAS 410 certification requirements from prior employment.
  • Knowledge of inherent and non-inherent material discontinuities.
  • Understanding of material handling procedures at StandardAero.
  • Willingness to train and certify in multiple NDT methods.
  • Must meet NAS 410 vision acuity requirements.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs unassisted (approx. 25% of the workday).
  • Ability to sit and stand for prolonged periods.
  • Proficiency with production management computer systems and internal control systems.

Background Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a specialized field, or equivalent combination of education and specialized training.
  • Three to six years of directly or indirectly related work experience.
  • Strong theoretical understanding of NDT principles and ability to apply them in practice.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal direction, defining goals and determining approaches to achieve results.
