Position Summary:

As a Level II NDT Technician at Precision NDT, you will play a pivotal role in performing calibrations, nondestructive tests, and evaluations to determine the acceptance or rejection of materials, components, or structures. Operating in accordance with written instructions, you will set up and calibrate equipment, interpret results, and ensure adherence to applicable codes and standards. Level II Technicians are experts in the NDT method being used, and they hold responsibilities for on-the-job training, guidance of assistants and Level I Technicians, as well as organising and reporting test results.

Responsibilities:

  • Set up and calibrate nondestructive testing equipment to ensure accurate and reliable results.
  • Conduct tests using NDT methods to ensure quality or detect discontinuities (defects) in materials, components, or structures.
  • Establish techniques for the proper examination of objects under inspection, ensuring strict adherence to safety regulations.
  • Apply testing criteria by applicable specifications or standards, evaluating results for acceptance or rejection.
  • Interpret data from various testing methods, including radiographs, cathode ray tubes (CRT) or digital readouts, conductivity meters, and visual indicators.
  • Organize and report test results accurately, providing essential information for decision-making.
  • Perform specialized inspections as required, applying expertise in the relevant NDT method.
  • Exercise responsibility for on-the-job training and guidance of Assistants and Level I Technicians.
  • Interface daily with clients regarding work priorities and project progress.
  • Actively participate in client programs, planning, strategy sessions, and safety initiatives.
  • Work closely with clients to identify and remove obstacles hindering project progress.
  • Actively participate in incident investigations and other safety-related initiatives.

Qualifications:

Hold Level II certification in the relevant NDT method.

Experience:

Proven experience in setting up and calibrating NDT equipment, conducting tests, and interpreting results.

Method Familiarity:

Thorough familiarity with the scope and limitations of the specific NDT method being employed.

Safety Compliance:

Strict adherence to safety regulations and the ability to contribute to safety initiatives.

Training and Supervision Skills:

Ability to provide on-the-job training and guidance to Assistants and Level I Technicians.

Communication:

Strong communication skills for effective interaction with clients and team members.

Client-Focused:

Proactive involvement in client programmes and a commitment to client satisfaction.
