Position Summary:

The Nondestructive Testing (NDT) Technician will be responsible for performing inspections independently, utilizing various NDT techniques to detect corrosion, defects, or any detrimental conditions based on specific written criteria. The technician will be required to interpret inspection results, communicate processes and findings effectively to customers, and maintain NDT certifications. This role will require working in both indoor and outdoor settings, adhering to safety standards, and collaborating with other team members to ensure the highest quality of inspection services.

Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to safety standards and legal regulations while ensuring a safe, secure, and healthy work environment for both company and customer.
  • Perform NDT inspections using certified techniques, interpret and report the results, and maintain documentation of all inspection activities.
  • Collaborate with senior technicians to gain hands-on experience and assist in training apprentice-level personnel.
  • Maintain and update NDT certifications as required, and expand expertise in additional NDT methods.
  • Assist in the supervision of apprentice-level personnel during fieldwork as needed.
  • Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and customers to relay inspection processes and results.
  • Ensure the safe handling of chemicals and work with hazardous materials in compliance with safety regulations.
  • Be adaptable to working in plant areas, around production machinery, and in environments with extreme noise levels.
  • Regularly travel to multiple job sites and work under various climate conditions.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Proficiency in basic math and the ability to work with Microsoft Word and other computer systems/equipment.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in the NDT field as a certified technician in at least two methods.
  • Certification to Level II in at least one NDT method (PT, MT, UT, RT, ET) is preferred.
  • Ability to follow instructions and handle chemicals safely.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to read, understand, and communicate in English.
  • Travel requirement: 0-75% (must be willing to travel to different job sites and occasionally out of town).

Qualifications:

  • Certified NDT Technician with a Level II certification in at least one of the following methods: Penetrant Testing (PT), Magnetic Particle Testing (MT), Ultrasonic Testing (UT), Radiographic Testing (RT), or Eddy Current Testing (ET).
  • Previous hands-on experience in a supervisory role is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple tasks and prioritizing duties.
  • Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment as mandated by the safety department.
  • Ability to work in varying field conditions, including extreme climates and high-noise environments.

Work Conditions:

  • The position is based out of a branch or site location with field duties requiring indoor and outdoor work, particularly in plant environments.
  • Interaction with other crew members, supervisors, and client personnel is expected.
  • Work environment may include proximity to production machinery, which may produce extreme noise levels.
  • The technician may be required to wear safety gear, including helmets, hearing protection, and other safety equipment as necessary.

Physical and Mental Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds.
  • Must be able to walk, climb, and maneuver within a refinery or plant environment, including accessing elevated platforms via ladders or stairwells.
  • Must have sufficient communication abilities, with or without reasonable accommodations, to effectively interact with team members and clients.
  • Ability to multitask and maintain focus in fast-paced environments, while managing physical and mental demands of the job.

  • Anticipated compensation: $52,000.00 – $72,800.00 per year, depending on experience, qualifications, and location.
