Position Summary:
- Jan X-Ray Services, Inc. (JANX) is seeking a Level I NDT Technician to provide field support to Level II Technicians and perform basic Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) services under their direct guidance.
- The role involves preparing and transporting equipment and materials, setting up work areas, maintaining supplies, completing required paperwork, cleaning work areas and equipment, and learning NDT methods, techniques, procedures, and field operational practices. The technician will perform basic NDT inspections based on their Level I certification and work under the direct supervision of a Level II Technician.
- The Level I Technician position is typically a mid-level position for JANX field employees and is a union position.
Responsibilities:
- Assist Level II Technicians with work execution and assigned daily tasks.
- Prepare, set up, and complete required paperwork under direct supervision.
- Establish work area boundaries and conduct surveillance where required to prevent unauthorized personnel from entering.
- Replenish and organize supplies required to perform assigned NDT methods.
- Perform basic NDT inspections based on the technician's Level I certification and capabilities under the direct guidance of a Level II Technician.
- Maintain cleanliness of work areas and vehicles.
- Observe test procedures and product compliance to learn internal and industry specifications.
- Apply knowledge and skills acquired through Level I certifications.
- Observe and learn procedures required to perform NDT work and obtain certification in required NDT methods.
- Observe and learn proper documentation procedures for NDT testing.
- Follow and enforce company-required safe work practices and procedures.
- Follow and enforce company policies.
- Demonstrate professional communication and a positive customer service attitude with internal and external customers.
- Use required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and safe practices in accordance with company policy.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least three months of experience in the NDT industry or a trade school degree in NDT.
- Knowledge of NDT equipment and processes based on Level I certification achieved.
- Basic knowledge and understanding of inspection technology.
- Knowledge of radiation safety and operational field requirements related to radiation safety.
- Ability to read technical documents and procedures and apply them in the field is preferred.
- Understanding of English language structure and content, including word meanings, spelling, composition, and grammar.
- Knowledge of arithmetic and algebra is preferred.
- Knowledge of customer service principles and processes, including customer needs assessment, service quality standards, and customer satisfaction evaluation.
- Analytical capability for customer needs assessment and solutions identification.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
- Good attention to detail, sense of urgency, and follow-through.
- Ability to work collaboratively with others and share relevant information promptly.
- Ability to maintain a positive outlook and composure when dealing with stressful situations.
- Excellent communication skills for conveying information effectively to customers and colleagues.
- Commitment to JANX values and ethics, including honesty, discretion, and sound judgment.
Requirements:
- State Radiographer Card.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States.
- Must meet minimum company requirements to operate a company vehicle.
- Must be eligible for coverage under the company's insurance program.
- Employment eligibility verification is required at the time of hire.
