We are looking for an Engineer or Scientist with expertise in Digitalization & AI for Predictive Maintenance.
About the Role
In this academic position, you will be responsible for the development and delivery of research and high-quality teaching at the postgraduate level in one or more of the following areas:
Automated Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) and Advanced Structural Health Monitoring Tools in Transport Systems and Applications.
Developing hardware and/or software solutions for automated damage assessment.
Machine Learning and Digital Twins in predictive maintenance for aircraft systems and/or operations.
You will be an experienced individual with a PhD in Engineering or similar industrial/research experience and excellent communication skills. You will have expertise in Automated NDT and/or Structural Health Monitoring for Predictive Maintenance and will build an independent portfolio of research and student supervision.

The Integrated Vehicle Health Management (IVHM) Centre is a joint effort by Industry and Academia to develop state-of-the-art diagnostic and prognostic capabilities that change the way services are provided today. The IVHM Centre was launched by Cranfield University, Britain’s premier postgraduate, research-intensive university together with Boeing, Rolls Royce, BAE Systems, Meggitt and Thales in 2008. It is located at Cranfield University’s Cranfield site. The Centre is now globally recognized, having defined the subject area and further developing new areas of expansion.
You will hold a PhD in Engineering or similar industrial/research experience, with experience in industrially sponsored management research. With excellent communication skills, you will have expertise in the area of Automated NDT and/or Structural Health Monitoring for Predictive Maintenance. You will be a qualified and experienced individual who would be responsible for the development and delivery of research and high-quality teaching at the postgraduate level in one or more of the areas mentioned above.
