Position Summary:-
Apave International – India is seeking an experienced Inspection Engineer for its on-site operations in Gujarat, India. The role is focused on the inspection of pipes, pipe fittings, forgings, and castings, with an emphasis on vendor inspection, quality assurance, non-destructive testing (NDT), and compliance with international standards.
The successful candidate will have hands-on experience in manufacturing environments and will be responsible for conducting vendor inspections, reviewing technical and quality documentation, witnessing manufacturing and testing activities, and ensuring compliance with customer specifications and applicable ASTM, ASME, API, and international quality standards.
Responsibilities:-
- Conduct vendor inspections of pipes, pipe fittings, forgings, and castings at manufacturing facilities.
- Review engineering drawings, Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), Material Test Certificates (MTCs), and other quality documentation.
- Witness and verify dimensional inspections, NDT activities, hydrostatic testing, heat treatment, and other manufacturing processes.
- Ensure compliance with customer specifications and applicable ASTM, ASME, API, and international quality standards.
- Prepare detailed inspection reports, release notes, punch lists, and Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs).
- Coordinate with clients, vendors, and project teams to resolve quality-related issues.
- Maintain inspection records and provide timely updates on inspection status.
Qualifications:-
- Diploma or B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical or Metallurgical Engineering.
ASNT Level II certification in:
- Radiographic Testing (RT)
- Penetrant Testing (PT)
- Magnetic Testing (MT)
- Ultrasonic Testing (UT)
Requirements:-
- Minimum 5 years of experience in Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) or Third-Party Inspection (TPI).
- Proven experience inspecting pipes, pipe fittings, forgings, and castings.
- Hands-on exposure to manufacturing environments such as:
- Pipe and pipe fitting manufacturers
- Foundries
- Forging companies
- Steel plants
- Heavy engineering industries
- Strong knowledge of ASTM, ASME, API, and relevant international codes and standards.
- Ability to read engineering drawings and manufacturing specifications.
- Good report-writing, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Willingness to travel extensively to vendor locations across India.
- Preferred Experience and Skills
- Experience in Third-Party Inspection (TPI) is highly desirable.
- Additional NDT certifications in UT, MT, PT, and RT are advantageous.
- Experience with vendor surveillance and quality assurance activities is beneficial.
