Infrared Technician

Position Summary:

Acuren is seeking an Infrared Technician to support inspection operations in La Porte, TX. This role is responsible for setting up and calibrating nondestructive testing equipment, conducting infrared inspections, interpreting inspection results, and preparing accurate reports. The position supports asset integrity activities through the application of NDT methods in accordance with applicable specifications, standards, and safety requirements.

Responsibilities:

• Set up and calibrate nondestructive testing equipment.
• Conduct inspections to ensure quality or detect discontinuities using NDT inspection methods.
• Establish proper examination techniques for inspected objects while ensuring strict adherence to safety regulations.
• Apply testing criteria in accordance with applicable specifications or standards and evaluate inspection results.
• Interpret radiographs, cathode ray tube (CRT) or digital readouts, conductivity meters, and visual indicators.
• Organize and report NDT test results.
• Perform specialized inspections as required.
• Instruct and supervise others, as applicable.
• Perform other job-related tasks as assigned by management.

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Some college preferred.
• Certified Level II Infrared (IR).
• Technical background in NDT methods and procedures.
• Demonstrated ability to perform assigned NDT tasks and interpret inspection results.
• Knowledge of NDT equipment.
• Experience in report writing.

Requirements:

• Ability to work in an outdoor environment with continuous physical effort and moderate mental effort.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds as required.
• Ability to perform physical activities including reaching, kneeling, crawling, bending, and crouching.
• Ability to sit, stand, walk, climb, or drive for required durations.
• Willingness to travel as required.
