Position Summary

Element Materials Technology is seeking a General Manager to lead its Aerospace & Energy division at the Fort Myers, FL lab. This is a high-impact leadership role focused on operational excellence, financial performance, and strategic growth, particularly in the areas of inspection services and Non-Destructive Testing (NDT). The ideal candidate will bring proven experience in the inspection services industry, deep knowledge of regulatory compliance, and the ability to manage complex NDT operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and inspire a safety-first culture in compliance with OSHA, Nadcap, AS9100, and relevant industry standards.
  • Ensure NDT operations (RT, UT, PT, MT, ET, etc.) meet customer specifications and quality requirements.
  • Oversee a team of 100 employees, including Level II/III NDT technicians and engineers.
  • Drive operational performance to meet financial targets (including responsibility for $14M EBITDA), productivity, and turnaround time (TAT).
  • Invest in and maintain NDT equipment and facilities that support accreditation and customer expectations.
  • Promote a customer-centric culture, focused on problem-solving, technical support, and improving Net Promoter Scores (NPS).
  • Implement Lean, Six Sigma, and NDT-specific process improvements.
  • Partner with Quality teams to ensure compliance with ASME, API, Nadcap, and AS9100 standards.
  • Cultivate relationships with key clients in aerospace, energy, and manufacturing sectors to expand NDT offerings.
  • Develop and execute long-term growth strategies based on market trends and customer needs.
  • Prepare financial plans and forecasts; manage working capital and implement corrective actions as needed.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Minimum 8+ years of experience in operations or general management within the inspection/testing services industry, ideally with a focus on NDT.
  • Proven leadership experience managing teams of 20+ employees, including exempt-level staff and certified technicians.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, technical, or manufacturing field (advanced degree preferred).
  • At least 5 years of experience with Lean/Six Sigma and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Strong knowledge of NDT methods and standards (ASNT, ISO 9712, Nadcap).
  • Strong financial and commercial acumen with a proactive, solution-oriented mindset.
  • Effective multitasking and prioritization in a high-pressure environment.
  • Exceptional communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25%.
