Position Summary:

The role is responsible for conducting non-destructive testing (NDT) of components and materials in accordance with applicable codes, standards, specifications, procedures, and equipment utilization requirements. The position involves performing multiple NDT methods, identifying material defects, operating and calibrating inspection equipment, completing documentation and reports, and maintaining a strong focus on safety, quality, and professional interaction with customers and team members.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct non-destructive testing of components and materials in accordance with applicable codes, standards, specifications, and procedures.
  • Perform NDT inspections using appropriate methods including magnetic particle testing (MT), liquid penetrant testing (PT), ultrasonic testing (UT), leak testing (LT), and visual testing (VT).
  • Select, prepare, load, calibrate, operate, and monitor equipment used for non-destructive testing.
  • Identify defects in materials using appropriate testing techniques.
  • Complete documentation, work orders, and inspection reports accurately and within required timeframes.
  • Maintain a strong safety focus by following and leading others to follow applicable safety regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Recognize hazards in the work environment and provide instruction to assigned assistants.
  • Interact professionally with customers, coworkers, and other worksite personnel.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Certification in Magnetic Particle Testing (MT) and Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT).
  • Certified Welding Inspector (CWI).
  • Demonstrated NDT skill, knowledge, or experience.
  • Structural steel and processing pipe experience.
  • Intermediate mechanical knowledge and aptitude.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with active listening ability.

Requirements:

  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Insurability through PROtect LLC’s insurance carrier.
  • Reliable transportation.
  • Ability to work demanding and flexible schedules, including up to 16-hour days and short-notice call-outs.
  • Willingness to travel up to 75% of the work schedule, including long-distance and extended travel.
  • Ability to frequently lift and carry up to 75 pounds on uneven terrain and occasionally exert force up to 150 pounds with assistance.
  • Ability to work at heights, in confined spaces, and in extreme cold and heat.
  • Ability to stand, walk, climb, kneel, crouch, reach, balance, push, pull, and perform repetitive motions for extended periods.
  • Visual acuity for close-range and distance inspection tasks.
  • Ability to work near hazards including moving mechanical parts, electrical components, and chemical exposures.
  • Professional appearance appropriate to assigned work.
  • Ability to multitask, think critically, monitor equipment operation, and adapt to frequent changes in the work environment.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and provide instruction to others.
