Position Summary:
The Industrial CT Technician will support advanced U.S. Navy Additive Manufacturing Projects by performing high-precision computed tomography (CT) inspections and dimensional analyses. This position is based at IIA’s Danville, VA facility, located at the Center of Excellence (AM COE), where the team provides qualification and component testing to validate the quality of additive manufactured parts for submarines. The role involves working with cutting-edge CT systems and collaborating with a team of industrial, defense, and engineering partners to advance defense manufacturing technologies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate and maintain the Northstar Imaging X7000 RobotiX 450kV and 225kV Computed Tomography Systems and associated software.
- Perform non-destructive testing (NDT) using CT and radiographic techniques to evaluate internal and external features of manufactured components.
- Capture and process part geometries, editing point cloud data to ensure optimal scan quality.
- Utilize software such as Northstar Imaging efX suite, Volume Graphics, SolidWorks, Windows OS, and DICONDE-compliant systems for image analysis and reporting.
- Ensure compliance with NAVSEA, DoD specifications, and applicable industry standards for CT and radiographic inspection.
- Prepare and deliver timely, accurate inspection reports for internal stakeholders and external clients.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and tour-ready laboratory environment in accordance with company standards.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Required:
- U.S. Citizenship.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience operating industrial CT scanners and X-ray systems.
- Valid NDT certifications in CT or Radiography.
- Proficiency in CAD software, particularly SolidWorks, including 3D surface modeling and animation.
- Strong understanding of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) and blueprint reading.
- Familiarity with DICONDE data protocols and network configurations.
- Strong analytical, decision-making, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Preferred:
- Experience in Additive Manufacturing, Machining, or related production environments.
