Position Summary:

The Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) will support AEIS’s growing portfolio of infrastructure and structural projects across the NY/NJ region. The role involves performing welding inspections, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and contributing to the development of welding quality assurance processes. The position offers opportunities for technical growth, collaboration with internal experts, and participation in continuous improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities:

Quality Assurance & Inspection:

  • Perform visual and destructive weld inspections in compliance with AWS D1.1/D1.5, ASME, and DOT standards.
  • Monitor welding operations to ensure procedures and personnel qualifications meet required standards.
  • Identify, document, and report weld defects and non-conformities.
  • Conduct MT and UT inspections where certified.

Documentation & Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate inspection records and generate professional reports using proprietary software.
  • Verify and review WPSs, PQRs, and welder certifications.
  • Contribute to quality documentation systems.
  • Collaboration & Process Improvement
  • Collaborate with project managers, welding engineers, and NDT personnel.
  • Participate in process optimization and corrective action initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Active AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification.
  • 1–10 years of hands-on experience in structural welding inspection.
  • Strong communication skills in English (written and spoken).
  • Basic math and technical documentation skills.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and construction plans.

Requirements:

  • Willingness to travel across project sites in New York and New Jersey.
  • Authorization to work for any employer in the United States (no visa sponsorship available).
  • Preferred / Additional Skills:
  • MT and UT certifications (Level I/II).
  • Experience in bolting inspections.
  • Familiarity with ASME standards.
  • Experience working on DOT or public infrastructure projects.
