Position Summary:

Bureau Veritas is seeking a Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) to oversee quality assurance at fabrication facilities and perform on-site construction inspections. The inspector will serve as a liaison between Bureau Veritas, its clients, and third-party contractors, ensuring compliance with project specifications and industry standards, particularly AWS codes.

The role requires a high level of technical expertise, attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and a strong client-focused approach. Inspectors will be responsible for reporting, documentation, and representing the company on-site with professionalism and technical integrity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee fabrication facility quality assurance on behalf of the client.
  • Conduct on-site inspections during the construction phase, ensuring compliance with applicable AWS codes.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers to understand assignment requirements (scope, schedule, deliverables, and budget).
  • Coordinate with fabrication shops, contractors, and third parties to resolve scheduling and inspection issues.
  • Ensure all services comply with project requirements and contractual obligations.
  • Generate and submit time sheets, billing reports, and inspection reports in a timely and professional manner.
  • Utilize Microsoft Word and Adobe Acrobat for all reports; submit electronically to the Project Manager.
  • Act as a point of contact for the fabrication facility regarding ongoing and future work opportunities.
  • Foster positive working relationships with Bureau Veritas clients and stakeholders.
  • Maintain remote work capability outside Bureau Veritas offices.
  • Clearly document and communicate inspection findings and technical issues.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) – American Welding Society.
  • Strong understanding of AWS codes (e.g., D1.1, D1.5, etc.).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel); Adobe Acrobat preferred.
  • Experience using digital cameras, laptops, and communication tools.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage concurrent assignments effectively.
  • Client-focused mindset with a strong commitment to quality and detail.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • D1.5 Bridge Inspection Experience.
  • NDT Level II Certification.
  • AMPP/NACE Level II Certification.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Hourly Rate: $35 – $55 (commensurate with experience).
