Certified Welding Inspector

Position Summary

The Certified Welding Inspector will perform visual inspections and non-destructive examinations (NDE) to ensure weld quality meets applicable codes, standards, and project requirements. This role involves technical evaluation, reporting, and client interaction in support of Intertek’s Asset Integrity Management services.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform AWS CWI visual inspections and NDE at client facilities or fabrication shops.
• Prepare inspection reports and document data clearly and promptly.
• Interface directly with clients regarding inspection procedures and capabilities.
• Maintain a professional appearance and uphold Intertek’s quality standards.
• Stay current with advancements in welding inspection methods and technology.
• Work independently or under the direction of a Project Manager or Team Leader.
• Provide technical guidance to technicians and subcontractors when required.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues in the field.

Requirements

• AWS Certified Welding Inspector certification meeting AWS B5.1 requirements (Sections 5.2, 6.1, and 6.2).
• 5–7 years of inspection experience.
• Ability to evaluate weldments against applicable codes, standards, and acceptance criteria.
• Current TWIC card.
• Valid driver’s license with a reliable driving record.
• Proficiency in applying examination criteria per relevant standards/specifications/procedures.
• Strong communication skills with clients, coworkers, and subcontractors.
• Organizational skills for recording and reporting inspection results.
• API certifications (preferred).
• Ability to stay informed on technological advancements in CWI practices (preferred).
