Position Summary:

The Assistant Technician – Nondestructive Testing (NDT) supports certified Technicians and Senior Technicians in performing inspections using various nondestructive testing techniques to identify corrosion, defects, or other detrimental conditions. This role involves hands-on learning, assisting with testing procedures, and gaining practical experience toward NDT certification. The Assistant Technician works under the direct supervision of a certified Technician or Senior Technician while maintaining strict adherence to safety and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist Technicians or Senior Technicians in conducting NDT inspections in accordance with written procedures and criteria.

Maintain a safe and compliant work environment by following company, customer, and regulatory safety standards.

Study and train toward achieving NDT certifications while gaining field experience across multiple NDT methods.

Calibrate instruments and operate testing equipment under supervision.

Handle chemicals safely and use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).

Adhere to TEAM’s Core Values and perform all assigned duties responsibly and professionally.

Perform additional job-related tasks as required.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Education:
    • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Skills & Experience:
    • Basic understanding of mathematics.
    • Ability to use computers and Microsoft Word.
    • Ability to read, understand, and communicate effectively in English.
    • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately.
    • Willingness to travel up to 75% as required.
    • Capable of handling chemicals safely and working in compliance with safety guidelines.

Work Environment:

  • Based out of a branch or job site location, with field duties involving both indoor and outdoor work environments.
  • May be exposed to high noise levels, machinery, and varying weather conditions in plant or industrial settings.
  • Interaction required with supervisors, crew members, and client personnel.
  • Must be able to wear safety equipment as mandated by company safety protocols.
  • May be assigned to multiple job sites per day and must tolerate environmental and climate variations.

Physical & Mental Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds.
  • Capability to walk, climb, and access elevated platforms using ladders and stairways.
  • Sufficient manual dexterity and mobility to operate testing equipment and perform required tasks.
  • Clear communication skills and ability to maintain focus in demanding field environments.
  • Strong multitasking ability and attention to detail.
