ASNT Level III VT/MT Technician

Position Summary:

The ASNT Level III VT/MT Technician will support shipyard contract assignments for the Chesapeake, VA office. This is a hands-on role involving inspection work on naval submarines, requiring extensive physical activity and long working hours. The technician will perform examinations, guide trainees, and ensure compliance with procedures, codes, and standards while delivering accurate inspection results.

Responsibilities:

• Perform examinations of materials in accordance with procedures, codes, standards, and specifications
• Teach training classes and administer written and practical examinations
• Maintain certifications and ensure compliance with qualification requirements
• Provide guidance and on-the-job training (OJT) to trainees
• Understand the scope and limitations of inspection methods and apply them appropriately
• Interface with department managers and clients to define scope and priorities of work
• Prepare written instructions and document inspection results
• Work independently and support team members as needed
• Perform additional job-related tasks as assigned by supervisors

Qualifications:

• ASNT Level III certification in VT/MT
• Experience in teaching, training, and administering exams

Requirements:

• Ability to work in physically demanding environments, including crawling in confined spaces
• Willingness to work long hours (up to 84-hour work weeks)
• Capability to perform hands-on inspection work in shipyard conditions
• Strong understanding of applicable codes, standards, and specifications
