Position Summary

The API Inspector is responsible for performing inspections on pressure vessels, piping, and/or above-ground storage tank equipment to ensure compliance with applicable API standards (510/570/653). Based in Rosemount, MN, this full-time role includes evaluating equipment integrity, recommending necessary repairs, and certifying operational safety. The inspector plays a key role in maintaining mechanical integrity across plant operations, supporting inspection scheduling, and preparing detailed reports.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct inspections on piping systems at scheduled intervals to maintain mechanical integrity.
  • Perform visual inspections and recommend or approve necessary repairs.
  • Assist in scheduling and coordinating inspection activities.
  • Adhere to and enforce all safety procedures and equipment usage protocols.
  • Accurately complete all customer and company documentation.
  • Participate in all required training and testing as per company policy.
  • Deliver comprehensive inspection reports to clients.
  • Work in plant or refinery environments, including outdoor conditions.
  • Operate in areas with extreme noise levels and near production machinery.
  • Wear and properly use all required PPE.
  • Adapt to changing assignments and prioritize tasks under tight deadlines.

Minimum Requirements

  • Valid API 570 certification is required.
  • API 510 and/or 653 certifications and NDT certifications (MT, PT, UTT) are advantageous.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical or college coursework preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Strong technical writing skills for detailed inspection reporting.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds.
  • Capable of working at heights, in confined spaces, and navigating refinery environments.

Must possess:

  • Clear speech and hearing to effectively communicate.
  • Adequate vision for inspection and observation tasks.
  • Manual dexterity to perform both field and office duties.
  • Essential Physical Functions
  • Frequent lifting of equipment up to 30 pounds.
  • Climbing ladders, stairwells, and working at elevated platforms.
  • Navigating various terrain and environmental conditions in plant settings.
