Position Summary:

The API 653 Inspector is responsible for performing visual and non-destructive examinations of static and dynamic pressure-retaining equipment in accordance with American Petroleum Institute (API) standards and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) requirements. The role involves assessing equipment condition, providing technical recommendations, supporting welding and metallurgical evaluations, and ensuring compliance with safety practices while supporting client operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform visual and non-destructive examinations of static and dynamic pressure-retaining equipment in accordance with API and ASME standards, as directed by the client.
  • Submit technically accurate reports documenting equipment condition.
  • Provide technical recommendations regarding the repair, re-rate, replacement, and/or alteration of plant equipment to ensure safe operation within specified operating parameters.
  • Provide technical input related to welding and metallurgical issues.
  • Offer technical guidance on the application of non-destructive examination techniques and procedures.
  • Fully comply with all company and client safe work practices.
  • Actively participate in site safety initiatives.
  • Travel as required to support client needs.

Qualifications:

  • Certification in API 510 and API 570.
  • Additional API 653 certification or Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) credential is considered an asset.
  • In-depth working knowledge of API 510/570 and ASME standards.
  • Experience working in direct support of petrochemical facility engineers.

Requirements:

  • API 510 and API 570 certifications are required.
  • 5–10 years of industry experience, or a minimum of 2 years of on-site experience.
  • Strong technical knowledge of pressure equipment inspection practices and applicable industry standards.
  • Willingness to travel when needed.
