Position Summary

The Aviation NDT Technician (EN4179/NAS 410 Level II) is responsible for carrying out daily nondestructive testing (NDT) inspections on aircraft and components in line with Applus UK Ltd approvals and customer/OEM inspection data. The role ensures inspections are completed to the highest industry standards, both in-house and on-site, with frequent travel as required. The technician will provide accurate and timely inspections, documentation, and reports while supporting continuous improvement initiatives within the Aviation department.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform NDT inspections of aircraft and components in strict accordance with customer instructions and OEM specifications.
  • Manage day-to-day inspection requirements in line with client priorities.
  • Ensure all work is completed safely, effectively, on time, and within allocated hours.
  • Comply with all applicable Quality, Technical, and Health & Safety procedures.
  • Conduct calibration, maintenance, and control checks on inspection instruments, recording results as required.
  • Certify work in accordance with customer purchase orders and regulatory standards.
  • Prepare accurate job packs, time sheets, and invoicing documentation for submission to the Aviation Team Leader/Operations Manager.
  • Provide customers with all required documentation (EASA CAA, FAA, and Applus NDT reports).
  • Present professionally in accordance with Applus Quality standards.
  • Support continuous improvement and cost-saving initiatives within the aviation facility.
  • Assist the Aviation Operations Manager with the implementation of new initiatives.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential:

  • Minimum of 2 years’ aeronautical experience in Aviation Maintenance.
  • At least 12 months’ practical NDT experience as a Level II technician.
  • “On-Wing” experience within a Part 145 Maintenance Organisation.
  • Qualified to at least one Level II approval (PT, MT, ET, or UT), certified to EN4179/NAS 410 or equivalent standard.
  • Strong verbal and written English communication skills.
  • High integrity and attention to detail, with a strong commitment to airworthiness.
  • Computer literacy and ability to produce accurate documentation.
  • Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and on-call systems.
  • Flexibility for overtime and overseas travel when required.

  • Self-directed, practical, and well-organised, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive and positive approach.
  • Experience working within a gas plant or aerospace environment.
