Position Summary

MISTRAS Group is seeking a highly skilled Advanced Ultrasonics Technician to perform and develop cutting-edge ultrasonic inspection and testing services. This role blends hands-on fieldwork, technical problem-solving, and mentoring with opportunities for business development and innovation. You'll be a key player in applying advanced NDT technologies such as Phased Array, Guided Wave, and Acoustic Emission to solve real-world inspection challenges across a variety of industries.

Key Responsibilities

  • Independently perform advanced NDT inspections using current technologies with minimal supervision
  • Develop and implement inspection solutions tailored to customer needs
  • Analyze and interpret results; prepare and deliver technical reports and presentations
  • Work directly with customers to define problems and propose inspection strategies
  • Identify business development opportunities and align customer needs with company resources
  • Mentor, train, and support certification of other technical personnel
  • Participate in the development and application of new testing methods
  • Ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and meet quality expectations
  • Contribute to quality control efforts, documentation, and technical archiving
  • Present at technical meetings, sales support events, and industry conferences
  • Travel frequently (including driving or flying) and mobilize equipment for job site operations

Minimum Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (associate or technical degree preferred)
  • Strong background in Nondestructive Testing and Evaluation
  • Level II Certification in Acoustic Emission
  • GUL Guided Wave Level I certification
  • Working toward or already hold Level II certification in at least one of the following:
    • UTSW (Ultrasonic Shear Wave)
    • UTPA (Ultrasonic Phased Array)
    • AUT-PA (Automated Phased Array)
    • AUT-LSI (Automated Corrosion Mapping)
    • TPC (Touch Point Corrosion)
    • API UTE or UTPA

  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Problem-solving mindset with the ability to innovate inspection solutions
  • Comfortable delivering technical content to clients and internal stakeholders
  • Able to guide and lead teams to deliver high-quality inspection results
  • Self-starter who works well independently and collaboratively
  • Business development or client-facing experience is a plus

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 75 lbs. frequently
  • Comfortable with frequent travel and extended field assignments
  • Ability to work in industrial environments, including elevated or confined spaces
  • Must be able to wear required PPE and perform physical tasks as part of inspections
