Position Summary:-

Oceaneering is seeking an Advanced SIS NDE Specialist to support the technical implementation and operational activities associated with advanced Non-Destructive Examination (NDE) technologies and services.

The role focuses primarily on advanced ultrasonic testing methods, including Phased Array Ultrasonic Testing (PAUT) and Automated Ultrasonic Testing (AUT) Corrosion Mapping. The specialist will perform inspections on piping, pressure vessels, pipelines, and structural components in onshore and offshore environments.

The position requires travel to client sites, manufacturing facilities, and offshore locations. Travel will be primarily domestic, with potential international travel. The specialist will provide technical expertise, support project requirements, analyze inspection data, and maintain high standards of safety, quality, and client service.

The position reports to the SIS Principal NDE Specialist and does not have direct supervisory responsibilities.

Responsibilities:-

  • Perform specialized NDE inspections using PAUT, AUT Corrosion Mapping, and other advanced ultrasonic testing methods.
  • Conduct advanced ultrasonic examinations of onshore pipelines, plant piping systems, offshore topside piping, and subsea piping systems.
  • Perform inspections on piping, pressure vessels, pipelines, and structural components in onshore and offshore environments.
  • Analyze, interpret, and compile inspection results to ensure accuracy and compliance with applicable standards.
  • Prepare and execute inspection jobs in accordance with work instructions, with emphasis on specialist techniques.
  • Work closely with clients to understand project requirements and provide tailored NDE solutions.
  • Prepare clear and concise technical reports and presentations of inspection findings for clients.
  • Maintain equipment, perform equipment maintenance, and manage QHSE documentation and document control.
  • Maintain test sample logs and assess requirements for test sample acquisition.
  • Maintain familiarity with the scope, capabilities, and limitations of certified techniques and methods.
  • Work with the SIS Technical Management team to maintain relevant procedures, generate techniques, and manage method quality control.
  • Assist SIS Management with day-to-day activities.
  • Continue training to obtain qualifications in additional conventional and advanced NDE methods and technologies.
  • Assist with training associate technicians through in-house and field training, mentoring, and annual assessments.
  • Mentor and support Level I and Level II NDE technicians in applying advanced ultrasonic methods and technologies.
  • Ensure team compliance with best practices, client requirements, and industry standards.
  • Assist the Technical Management team with business development activities, including updating information sheets and technical bulletins and attending open days, workshops, and industry trade conferences.
  • Keep up to date with technical developments within the SIS group and the wider industry.
  • Support the Technical Management team in maintaining procedures related to the relevant discipline.
  • Adhere to company policies and procedures, particularly health, safety, environmental, and quality requirements.
  • Travel to client sites, manufacturing facilities, and offshore locations, often with short notice.
  • Work extended hours, weekends, and holidays when required to meet project deadlines.
  • Adapt to challenging environments, including confined spaces, elevated areas, and adverse weather conditions.
  • Perform additional responsibilities and tasks as required to support organizational objectives.

Qualifications:-

Required Qualifications:-

  • SNT-TC-1A compliant classroom training hours in UT and PAUT.
  • Minimum of three years of experience applying advanced ultrasonic methods.
  • Minimum Level II certification under ASNT-TC-1A or CP-189 in UT and PAUT.
  • Successful completion of applicable company certification examinations.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in field environments.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective interaction with clients and team members.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
  • Complete knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Familiarity with industry-standard application software and manufacturer-specific advanced NDE technology application software.
  • Ability to comply with company and client health, safety, and environmental requirements.

Desired Qualifications:-

  • High School Diploma or equivalent education and experience.
  • Previous experience and knowledge across multiple industry segments, including oil and gas, power generation, pipeline, new construction, and in-service work.
  • International experience.
  • SPRAT/IRATA Rope Access certification.
  • Third-party UT certifications such as ACCP, PCN, CSWIP, EPRI, or API QUTE.
  • Experience with multiple ultrasonic equipment and software platforms, including Zetec/Ultravision and Olympus/Tomoview.
  • Knowledge of pipeline systems and procedures, including the PipeWizard AUT system.
  • SNT-TC-1A compliant classroom training hours in MT, PT, and ET.

Requirements:-

The specialist must be able to obtain the following credentials and training:

  • Transportation Worker Identification Card (TWIC).
  • Helicopter Underwater Escape Training (HUET).
  • SafeGulf Training.
  • Valid passport.
  • Rope Access Level 1 Training and Certificate.

The position also requires the ability to:

  • Work in both onshore and offshore environments based on business needs.
  • Travel primarily domestically, with potential international travel.
  • Travel to client sites, manufacturing facilities, and offshore locations, sometimes with short notice.
  • Work in confined spaces, elevated areas, and adverse weather conditions.
  • Work extended hours, weekends, and holidays when required.
  • Lift 50–100 pounds occasionally.
  • Lift 25–50 pounds frequently and 10–20 pounds constantly.
  • Climb stairs and ladders, stand, balance, stoop, squat, reach, and lift or carry objects.
  • Kneel, jump, run, crawl, and work while lying on the stomach or back.
  • Perform repetitive movements involving the arms and hands.
  • Differentiate between colors.
  • Wear required PPE, including protection for the skin, head, hands, body, eyes, vision, hearing, and feet.
  • Stand and walk as required.
  • Work with the arms extended below the waist and perform positions involving the head, wrists, elbows, and back.
  • Work around moving and vibrating equipment, high noise levels, intense glare, open fire/flames/sparks, airborne dust, fumes, and gases.
