16th International Conference on Barkhausen Noise and Micromagnetic Testing

The 16th International Conference on Barkhausen Noise and Micromagnetic Testing will take place on September 21st to 24th, 2026, in Dortmund, Germany.
The event will be organized by the Chair of Materials Test Engineering (WPT) at TU Dortmund University.
Since 1998, the ICBM conferences have brought together scientists, academics, and industry professionals from around the world to discuss the latest developments and findings in the field of Barkhausen noise and micromagnetic testing methods. The conference has focused on presenting new applications, developing new sensors, modeling and simulation, modern trends, and material characterization.
In this edition, ICBM16 gladly welcomes contributions with a specialized or niche focus, pilot studies as well as investigations that still have unanswered questions.
The official language of the conference is English.
Focal points:
Non-destructive materials characterization.
Investigations of stress state, residual stresses and defect analysis.
Combined applications of micromagnetic and microscopic techniques.
Modeling and simulation.
Machine learning-oriented studies.
Industrial applications.

About TU Dortmund University

In research and teaching, basic and application-orientated topics of destructive and non-destructive, microscopic and mechanical material and component testing are dealt with. Innovative measurement and testing methods, their coupled application and further development in line with requirements create the basis for the experimental determination of deformation behaviour and damage initiation and evolution. In-situ analysis techniques and digital evaluation routines ensure that microstructure and defect characteristics can be correlated with local performance and implemented in the modelling. The complexity of the requirements is increasing due to the further development of material systems and process technologies with regard to customised structural and performance gradients.
