Responsibilities of a PCN Level 2 Ultrasonic Time of Flight Diffraction (TOFD) Certified NDT Professional:

A Level 2 certified individual in Ultrasonic TOFD has demonstrated competence in performing NDT procedures. Within the scope defined on the certificate, Level 2 personnel may be authorized by their employer to:

• Select the appropriate Ultrasonic TOFD technique for the test method.
• Define the limitations and applications of the testing method.
• Adapt Ultrasonic TOFD codes, standards, specifications, and procedures to the actual working conditions.
• Configure and verify Ultrasonic TOFD equipment settings.
• Conduct and supervise Ultrasonic TOFD tests.
• Interpret and evaluate test results according to relevant standards, codes, specifications, or procedures.
• Prepare written instructions for Ultrasonic TOFD.
• Perform and oversee all tasks at or below Level 2.
• Provide guidance and mentorship for personnel at or below Level 2.
• Accurately report the results of Ultrasonic TOFD tests.
• Training and Experience Requirements for Certification:

PCN certification is awarded once the required experience and training hours are met, along with successful completion of the PCN examination:

• Ultrasonic Time of Flight Diffraction
• Level 2: 40 training hours and 9 months of experience.
• Direct access to PCN Level 2 certification can be achieved by combining the experience and training hours of Level 1 and Level 2:
• Direct access Level 2: 80 training hours and 12 months of experience.

Accelerated Learning:

• For individuals seeking a faster path to certification, accelerated learning is available. Through this method, you can gain up to 50% of the required experience.
• 192 hours of training is equivalent to 960 hours of work experience, which fulfills 50% of the required 1920 hours of experience for certification.
