Course Description :

If you are interested in expanding your knowledge of radiographic systems or exploring the introduction of a digital system in your workplace, this course is ideal for you.

During this course, you will learn about the principles of digital radiography, equipment standards for CR systems, radiographic techniques with CR and equipment calibration using a phantom. Additionally, you will gain knowledge about image processing using phosphor screens, software-specific parameters, calibration of measuring tools, effects of magnification, and the accuracy constraints and capabilities of CR systems. The course also covers image modification, the use of analysis software, and reporting.

This training is designed to meet the requirements of BS EN ISO 9712, and you will conclude with a certification exam.

Upon completion of the course, you will be able to:

  • Explain the theoretical background of digital radiography
  • Explain current standards with reference to CR systems
  • Calibrate a CR system using a phantom
  • Explain the image processing of phosphor screens
  • Use software-specific parameters to assess a digital image
  • Recognize the constraints and capabilities of a CR system
  • Modify digital images to optimize defect detection
  • Meet the syllabus requirements of Appendix E10 training and examinations PCN syllabus

Please note that all candidates attending a PCN examination (initial, retest, or renewal) must provide photo ID (e.g. driving license number, passport number, PCN ID card) on the day of the exam. Failure to do so will result in the candidate being turned away.

To be eligible for this course, you must be qualified to a minimum of Level 2 Radiographic Interpretation in accordance with BS EN ISO 9712.

Upon successful completion of the course, you will have the option of obtaining certification in either CSWIP Level 2 DRI (Weld, Casting, or Profile/Tangential) or PCN Level 2 CRI (Weld, Casting, or Wrought).

Digitized Radiographic Interpretation (DRI):

The minimum required duration of training, which includes both theoretical and practical elements, is:

Level 2 - 18 hours

The minimum duration for experience prior to or following success in the qualification examination is:

Level 2 - 3 months

Overall, this course is ideal for those who want to gain expertise in digital radiography and learn how to use a CR system effectively, with the added benefit of obtaining a recognized certification in the field.
