Course Description :

This course is ideal for individuals who want to enhance their knowledge of electromagnetic inspection techniques for detecting and sizing surface-breaking cracks in metallic components and welds. The Alternating Current Field Measurement (ACFM) technique combines the benefits of the Alternating Current Potential Drop (ACPD) method and Eddy Current Testing (ECT).

If you are currently or previously approved as a 3.4U Inspection Controller, a CSWIP 3.1U or 3.2U Diver, a surface practitioner certified under PCN or CSWIP, or qualified in relevant engineering science, this course is designed for you.

Throughout the course, you will receive training on NDT techniques, electrical and electromagnetic theory, ACFM detection and identification of cracks, weld inspection, sizing for length and depth, reporting, and backing-up data. The training is compliant with the requirements of ISO 9712 and concludes with a certification examination.

Upon completion of the course, you will have gained a solid understanding of the theoretical principles behind ACFM techniques, equipment functioning checks, surface breaking fatigue crack detection and sizing, and eligibility to sit CSWIP EMD examinations.

Please note that prior to the training, you will be required to provide proof of experience and identity. You may attempt only one examination as part of the package.

To enroll in this course, you must be a current or previously approved 3.3U ROV pilot observer, a 3.4U Inspection Controller, a CSWIP 3.1U or 3.2U Diver, a surface practitioner certified under PCN or CSWIP, or hold a qualification in relevant engineering science.
