Overview

Tilley Pressure Test Inc. was established in 2003 and began providing NDT services at a single location.

Today we combine our highly experienced NDT inspection team with competitive pricing and fast turnaround time to provide clients in the oil field services and other industries with an ideal quality assurance solution. We currently employ highly trained NDT Inspectors in thirteen major areas across North America.

Products & Services
Ultrasonic Insection

Tilley Pressure Test is committed to performing high quality NDT inspection services on our customer's products for integrity, safety, and reliability. For this purpose we use a broad range of non destructive testing methods, including, Hydrostatic, Magnetic Particle, Visual, - All of our services are backed up by a philosophy that focuses on honesty and integrity with a commitment to superior, safe and responsible non destructive testing processes.

Ultrasonic Examination (UT) is a type of nondestructive testing commonly used to find flaws in materials and to measure the thickness of objects. Inspection may be manual or automated and is an essential part of modern manufacturing processes. Ultrasonic testing uses the transmission of high frequency sound waves into a material to detect imperfections within the material or changes in material properties. The most commonly used ultrasonic testing technique is pulse echo wherein sound is introduced into the test object and reflections (echos) are returned to a receiver from internal imperfections or from geometrical surfaces of the part.

In simple terms, an ultrasound transducer is moved over the material being inspected, emitting pulsed waves of high frequency sound which travel through the subject matter and return to the transducer or a separate receiving device. Changes in the amount of sound received reveals imperfections in the subject material.

One of the more common uses of this NDT technology is weld inspection on pipelines, where ultrasound is particularly adept at locating areas where the weld is not deep enough or fully complete. Tilley Pressure Test performs ultrasonic.

Htdrostatic Testing

Tilley Pressure Test is committed to performing high quality NDT inspection services on our customer's products for integrity, safety, and reliability. For this purpose we use a broad range of non destructive testing methods, including, Hydrostatic, Magnetic Particle, Visual, - All of our services are backed up by a philosophy that focuses on honesty and integrity with a commitment to superior, safe and responsible non destructive testing processes.

Hydrostatic testing is the most common procedure used to qualify newly manufactured cylinders, spheres and tubes used for the transportation of dangerous goods. Hydrostatic testing is also required periodically to re-qualify these pressure vessels for continued service. During a hydrostatic test, a pressure vessel is placed inside a closed system, usually a test jacket filled with water, and a specified internal water pressure is applied to the container inside this closed system. The applied internal pressure causes an expansion of the container being tested, and the total and permanent expansion that the container undergoes are measured. These volumetric expansion measurements, in conjunction with an internal and external visual inspection of the container, are used to determine if a pressure vessel is safe for continued use, or has suffered from a degradation in its structural integrity and must be condemned.

Some pressure vessels may be re-qualified by means of a proof-pressure test. This method, also known as a modified hydrostatic test, consists of subjecting a pressure vessel to a specified internal pressure and inspecting the pressurized container for leaks, bulges or other defects. This method is permitted only when the applicable regulations do not require the determination of volumetric expansion measurements (e.g. for certain types of low pressure cylinders such as those used on many portable fire extinguishers).
