The School of Applied Non Destructive Examination (SANDE) aims to provide the best possible training and support to students and personnel performing Non Destructive Testing.

SANDE’s primary goal is to assist students to become highly skilled technicians who are fully committed to carrying out safety critical testing in a professional and responsible manner at all times.

SANDE was founded in 1981 by Eric Guest. We now have highly qualified instructors, who present scheduled courses at our premises in Boksburg, as well as away courses both nationally and internationally.

Products & Services
Online NDT Training

SANDE are delighted to offer online blended (online and classroom) learning at SANDE.


SANDE offers:

  • Magnetic Particle Testing Level I & II,
  • Liquid Penetrant Testing Level I & II,
  • Ultrasonic Testing Level I & II,
  • ToFD and Phased Array
  • Each of these courses include a free Product Technology module at Level I and II.

You will have 60 days access to the online material before coming to SANDE to do the practical component and write the exams.

ISO 9712 Certification

Since August 2017, SANDE, has the approval to be an Approved Training Body (ATB) and Examination Centre for South African Institute of Welding (SAIW).


This means that any candidate that wishes to be certified to ISO 9712, can successfully complete the SNT-TC-1A, SANDE course and then apply for examination and certification with SAIW.


These examinations will be written at SAIW’s premises.
