Overview

For over 50 years, NDT Systems Inc., NDT Systems Inc. has been a leader in the design, manufacture, and sale of high quality advanced ultrasonic testing equipment to the non-destructive testing marketplace. Our products include a wide variety of ultrasonic thickness gauges, bond testers, portable flaw detectors, and a range of precision ultrasonic transducers and manual and automated scanners. Based in Huntington Beach, California, NDT Systems offers a wide portfolio of products to support the inspection of almost all materials from advanced composite materials to plastics, ceramics, and metals.

Our focus today is the development of data enhancing imaging systems that greatly increase Probability of Detection (POD). The Raptor CIS Kit, C-Scan and 3D imaging system greatly improves corrosion mapping at an affordable price. The BondHub II C-Scan and 3D imaging system has enabled the aerospace and composites industries to implement this inspection technique with many bond testers available on the market. This capability allows post-data collection analysis and base line data retention. Material advancements resulting in ever-thinner alloys and the need to meet high production rates have created the need for the next generation Novascope currently under development.

You will see our products used in the air foil manufacturing, aerospace, oil and gas, power generation and transportation industries. Our equipment offers high-quality, full functionality at a competitive price. Additionally, NDT Systems offers customized solutions including fully automated robotic inspection systems as well as specialized transducers.

Our products are 100% made in the USA. Calibration, service, and repair are all performed at our California-based facility which allows for fast turnaround.

Adaptive NDT product development never ends. With our embedded application lab of design engineers, we have the experience and expertise to help you solve the most difficult applications. Let us work with you to address your needs. NDT Systems strives to provide the highest level of customer service with a dedicated team of individuals who are available to answer questions and help to configure solutions. Corrosion Inspection

Corrosion is the degradation of metal usually resulting from interaction with the environment around it. Over time, corrosion will gradually reduce the original wall thickness reducing the strength. In the oil & gas industry, corrosion can lead to failures, expensive repairs, unscheduled shutdowns, and reduced efficiency costing billions of dollars. With external structures, the outside surfaces are often accessible and easily protected, so most corrosion cannot be seen and occurs from the inside of closed structures like tanks and pipelines. This can have dangerous results.

The standard approach for inspection is to measure remaining wall thickness using thickness gauging but there is a growing requirement for corrosion mapping using portable systems with semi or fully automated scanners.  This allows for more complete coverage and better sizing, therefore improving the overall monitoring process and ensuring continued safe operations.

Corrosion inspection is usually done with dual-element transducers. With the correct gauge, measurements can also be made through a coating or paint.

NDT Systems offers a range of dual-element hand-held thickness gauges for point measurements with the option for encoded B-scan imaging using a hand-held scanner.  For area corrosion mapping on pipes or vessels, we offer the uniquely portable and battery operated Corrosion Inspection System for covering large areas with C-scan results.

The Corrosion Inspection Package is the most cost-effective corrosion mapping on the market and includes the Raptor imaging flaw detector, a hand-scanner for a unique fast survey mode, and an automatic precision X-Y scanner.

Thickness Measurement

The requirement for accurate thickness measurements is found across many industries including aerospace, oil and gas, pharmaceutical and food processing, either for quality control in manufacturing or in-service verification. Often, access is only available from one side and speed is critical.  The wall thickness of most materials including metals, composites, plastics and glass can be measured ultrasonically using a simple hand-held digital gauge.

In certain environments, a coating of paint or other non-metallic material may have been applied to protect the part, such as a pipe used in the petrochemical industry. In this case a conventional ultrasonic gauge would give measurement errors from the presence of the paint. However, with the correct gauge with through-paint mode, measurement through the paint is possible resulting in the correct wall thickness measurement underneath.

NDT Systems offers a range of standard and high-resolution thickness gauges with features including A-trace display, B-scan, automatic probe recognition, data logging and much more.

Large area thickness mapping (C-scan) can be achieved using our Raptor imaging flaw detector and range of scanners.
