Lift and Lifting Inspection Services
Lifting equipment is any work equipment for lifting and lowering loads, and includes any accessories used in doing so. As an example: different kinds of cranes and Lift, Forklift, Scissor Lift, hoists, etc. The purpose of lifting equipment inspection is to avoid the risk and fatality that triggers severe losses. Under the Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998 (LOLER), lifting equipment inspections should be carried out by competent persons. A competent person is someone who has the right experience and knowledge to thoroughly understand what they are looking for. Lifting equipment inspection follows two steps, at first, the inspector should check all the inspection points as per the checklist (includes an examination of the lift’s structural, mechanical, hydraulic, air, and electrical systems and components) which is mandatory, then checking the SWL by load testing. Load Testing involves applying a load to a structure, material, or piece of equipment to verify its strength. A proof load test is usually expressed as a percentage of the working load limit (WLL) or safe working load (SWL) that the equipment is designed to withstand. IISPL has DIFE-certified skilled inspectors to perform the lifting equipment inspection Why lifting inspection is required? The purpose of an inspection is to identify whether work equipment can be operated, adjusted, and maintained safely, with any deterioration detected and remedied before it results in a health and safety risk.
