Hawk was formed in 1985 to serve the project management needs of the Alaska Oil and Gas industry. Since then, Hawk has expanded geographically while diversifying its service portfolio to include various quality-related solutions and supply chain support, operational support and technical consultancy, and claims consulting and dispute resolution services.

Hawk's principals are seasoned professionals who continue to provide hands-on services, assuring clients that their people are trained, experienced and capable. Pipe Mill & Coatings Inspection

Specific duties and functions of Hawk’s Mill Inspectors include:

  • Conduct and/or participate in Pre-Inspection Meetings (PIMs)
  • Purchase order review
  • Mill Quality Plan or ITP review and approval
  • Verification/validation of Material Test Reports (MTRs)
  • Inspection of plate or coil
  • WPS and/or PQR review
  • Review and witness of welder and NDE qualifications
  • Review NDT test reports
  • Material traceability
  • Witness mechanical testing
  • Atmospheric condition monitoring
  • Safety
  • Welding inspection
  • Visual, dimensional, and ovality inspection
  • Hydrostatic testing
  •  Heat treatment
  • Material handling and damage reporting
  • Stenciling and marking
  • Review of calibration certificates for test equipment
  • Preservation, packing and shipping
  • Review of data sheets, shipping documentation
  • Daily reporting and production schedule monitoring
  • Preparation of data books
  • Post-order audit support (PHMSA)

Typically, most line pipes are coated after production, and Hawk provides highly qualified coatings inspectors to monitor these processes. 

Normal or typical coatings inspection duties include:

  • Visual inspection before coating
  • Verification of the type of coatings to be used
  • Surface Preparation
  • Wet and dry film thickness checks
  • Monitor curing operations
  • Safety
  • Visual inspection (post-coating)
  • Adherence checks
  • Holiday testing
  • Monitor and inspect for handling damage
  • Witness and document all repairs
  • Daily reporting to client and coating progress monitoring
DRILLING, COMPLETIONS & SUBSEA EQUIPMENT INSPECTION

Highly trained, qualified, and experienced inspectors can be deployed to inspect a variety of equipment, including:
