Overview
FOERSTER, a leading manufacturer and supplier of nondestructive testing (NDT) equipment, utilizes nondestructive electromagnetic or eddy current test principles. Products range from simple hand-held instruments to sophisticated integrated test systems for in-line testing. Instruments developed for NDT of the metals manufacturing industry are used for crack detection, hardness measurement, magnetic property determination, electrical conductivity measurement, and heat treatment verification.
FOERSTER's Detection and Magnetics Division manufactures products used in the detection of unexploded ordnance (UXO) and landmines. The DM Division of FOERSTER also utilizes their instruments for Geophysical Exploration and detecting magnetic anomalies in metal products.
FOERSTER also specializes in the integration of material handling systems with NDT equipment to solve difficult product testing applications in the bar, tube, wire and component manufacturing markets. Our capabilities include engineering, design, manufacturing, installation, as well as support and service.
Recently FOERSTER has developed a variety of cost effective material handling and testing systems from handling and inspection of Automotive Components such as Gears, Strut Rods, Bearings etc. to a portable (Drill Site) Drill Collar Inspections System to inspect drill collars for magnetic anomalies according to API Spec 7.
Products & Services
Reliable quality control and reproducible testing combined with great economic efficiency
The DEFECTOMAT systems by FOERSTER were specially developed for quality testing and process monitoring of long products. From hot testing to all bright steel processing steps, the surfaces of semi-finished products made from austenitic, (non) ferromagnetic metals can be tested for defects. The DEFECTOMAT systems operate in a contactless and non-destructive manner in accordance with the eddy current method and are used for detecting short defects, such as holes or localized defects and transverse defects. The systems detect defective materials fully automatically and reliably. Defects can be marked, classified, and automatically discarded. the test speed of up to 150 m/s facilitates 100% testing, even at high production speeds. The systems benefit from low operating costs and frugal energy consumption as well as low maintenance costs, few wear parts, and low use of materials.
DEFECTOMAT ECM
Affordable and compact quality assurance solution
The modular DEFECTOMAT ECM is extremely compact, yet features many options for integration in popular production systems. Designed for simple operation, the compact test instrument performs Yes/No filtering of the test materials. The module has an integrated port for expanding the line functionality, e.g. for a marking, sorting, and crosscutting device. In addition, the test results can be logged, statistically analyzed, and archived via a connected master computer.
