Automated Inspection Systems is a vertically structured consulting engineering firm specializing in Automated Ultrasonic Testing (AUT).  Included among our standard products are novel and advanced applications, customized software, hardware, and scanning devices. 

Fundamentally, an AUT solution requires a UT instrument, a moti0n controller, a mechanized UT scanner, and plenty of software.  Automated Inspection Systems comprises all disciplines, Electrical, Mechanical, Software, and NDT, required to implement the right solution for our customer base. 

Automated Inspection Systems are connected to numerous industries, Pipe Lines (Oil and Gas, Subsea, Water, Penstocks), Pressure Vessels, Tank Walls, Ship Hulls, Wind Turbine Blades, Steam Turbine Rotorbore, Aircraft, and Airframe Components.

Automated UT Data System

The NB-2000  data system is the heart of all our automated UT products.  These machines come in either a Windows laptop or desktop configuration.  The unit houses a fully configurable UT instrument, 125 MHz A/D, motion control functions, acquisition and analysis software.  Notably the NB-2000 data system is noted for its raw speed and throughput power.  Typically most applications/scanners run at 20"/sec while capturing a wave form every 0.02" (0.5mm).  So when running at these high speeds and rates, the NB-2000 puts out stunning full color high resolution images.

Applications of the NB-2000 include corrosion mapping, thickness measurements, TOFD, multichannel zonal techiques, weld examination, bond line inspection, crack detection and sizing, delaminations, erosion, and pitting. 

Wind Turbine Blade Inspection System

The BladeRunner is a high speed high resolution fully automated turnke systyem designed specifically for inspection of wind turbine generator blades on the factory floor.  Total scan time per blade, both pressure side and suction side is conservatively 3 hours.  Results are produced in high resolution color Cscans and Bscans showing extreme detail, reliability, and repeatability.

Presently many manufactures resort to manual scanning to inspect the spar cap, adhesive, and shear web bonding.  Doing so is slow, may take hours (sometime days), is complex, subject to one person's interpretation, and does not allow for any meaningful permanent records and secondary review of the problem areas.

The BladeRunner leverages lightweight technology to gain speed, accuracy, and mechanical advantage.  This machine addresses issues inherent to manual scanning in an elegant, meaningful, and useful manner.  In doing so, the operator becomes more efficient spending less time scanning while devoting more effort characterizing trouble spots, plotting out repairs, and suggesting upstream tweaks in the molding and manufacturing process.
