Overview
Founded in 1986, Advanced Technology Testing and Research (ATTAR) was established to conduct materials testing and research using the most advanced techniques available and to provide Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) training to Australian industry.
ATTAR’s expertise now encompasses an expansive array of non-destructive testing, failure analysis, forensic engineering, risk assessment services, specialist testing of structures and vessels, and the provision of expert witness services.
ATTAR remains committed to ensuring that quality of service is maintained in all aspects of our operations. As an Authorised Qualifying Body (AQB) and industry leader, ATTAR provides expert Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) training, including the provision of private and customized courses as well as consulting, auditing, and specialized Level 3 services.
Commencing 1 January 2019, ATTAR is pleased to offer Technical writing training courses to both individuals and companies. Training courses are undertaken anywhere across Australia, New Zealand, and South East Asia. Private courses can be arranged for Technical Writing, Scientific Writing, and Technical Report writing. Private courses can be tailored to our client’s specific requirements.
Products & Services
Acoustic Emission Testing
Acoustic Emission
Our ASNT Level II and Level III consultants provide NATA-accredited Acoustic Emission testing reports detailing active corrosion, propagating defects such as cracks, and leak detection on metallic and composite structures. We conduct Acoustic Emission testing on storage tanks, fiberglass elevating work platform isolators, pipelines, and pressure vessels of all kinds, and have conducted significant research in the area of applications of Acoustic Emission testing, such as on power poles, transformers, and tower cranes.
Minimise downtime
The advanced testing methods ATTAR utilizes require your assets to only be taken offline for hours, rather than days and can be mobilized on short timeframes to take advantage of incidental downtime or reduced demand.
Minimise expensive inspections
Traditional NDT and inspection methods often require complete asset isolation, with expensive and lengthy wind-down procedures. ATTAR’s condition monitoring provides information on whether such inspections are necessary for the short and medium term, minimizing unnecessary costs and allowing prioritization of the assets.
Keep your assets and people safe
Regular condition monitoring provides a record of the condition of an asset throughout its life. This information allows for changes in condition to be analyzed and life cycle estimates to be developed, significantly reducing the likelihood of unexpected failures and ensuring the safety of all asset users.
Corrosion Detection Testing
Overhead Line Corrosion
Our Overhead Line Corrosion testing provides an assessment of the level of corrosion in the steel supporting reinforcement of the aluminum conductor, providing information on the performance and projected life of the Power Line.
The technology ATTAR uses provides information on the condition of the conductor well in advance of infra-red or visual inspection methods and can provide information on the condition of an entire span of the power line.
This information can be used to form a network-wide condition map, identifying and prioritizing replacement and maintenance schedules, and preventing the unpredicted failure of conductors.
This method also requires minimal disruption to the network as it is conducted on live and de-energized power lines.
No downtime
The advanced testing methods ATTAR utilizes can be undertaken on both energized and de-energized lines, removing any disruption to the network.
