Easy to use menus and icon system

The BondCheck menu system is simple and fast to navigate. It has the ability to add individually selectable soft key menu items to the sidebar for rapid function access and a “quick-setting menu” for easy set-up, review and adjustment. With four operator selectable soft keys and a fifth slot for the last menu function used, technicians can quickly modify the system with their preferences. Each saved instrument setting can be associated with a unique, single press set of quick access soft keys. There are also two front panel hard keys that can be readily programmed for rapid single press access to frequently used functions.

Large, daylight readable, configurable colour screen

The BondCheck has a large 14.5cm (5.7 Inches) LCD Colour Screen of 640 x 480 pixels providing the operator with excellent signal resolution and presentation together with the choice of configuring their own colour schemes and display types. It is easy to optimise the screen presentation regardless of the lighting conditions. A secondary pane can be configured to create a split screen display or an inset window, with a choice of X-Y spot, frequency sweep, RF waveform and Spectrum displays.

BondCheck Resonance Probes

Now available in a number of frequencies (75, 90, 165, 200, 250 and 330kHz) which can be supplied as a 6 probe kit or individually. Ergonomically designed, they can be connected to the instrument using the same cable as the Pitch-Catch probes. The stainless steel probe with tough polymer hand grip and Alumina wear face provide robust performance. Like the pitch-catch probe the Alarm LED and digital ID allow ease of use and for serial number and settings to be stored. The BondCheck allows an air calibration to be carried out to determine most sensitive inspection frequency.

BondCheck Pitch-Catch Probes 

The BondCheck Pitch-Catch probe offers the best in performance and durability. Ergonomically designed and manufactured from CNC machined Aluminium with rubber hand grips, the BondCheck Pitch-Catch probe is both comfortable to use and robust. The probe feet can be positioned by the user to suit the inspection task, and the hard wearing probe tips are interchangeable with rounded and flat tip profiles available. The probe is broad band and is suitable for a wide range of applications. The Stainless Steel transmit and receive sensors are positioned close to the edge of the housing, and a smaller probe form factor is also available to allow inspection in tight areas. An alarm LED on the probe can be triggered from the BondCheck alarm settings. The probe incorporates a digital ID which stores its serial number together with programmable default settings.

Maxwell Pulsed Eddy Current System

Maxwell NDT and Ether NDE offer the Maxwell NDT PECT system, a remarkably capable pulsed eddy current inspection system that has been designed with decades of practical in-service experience at it’s very core, by one of the founding fathers of Pulsed Eddy Current technology. 

PEC is an advanced electromagnetic inspection technology used in detecting flaws and corrosion in ferrous materials typically hidden under layers of coating, fireproofing, or insulation. 

Applications include CUI (corrosion under insulation), high-temperature thickness monitoring, corrosion under coatings, blistering and scabs.

Pulsed Eddy Current

As opposed to conventional eddy current testing (ECT) techniques where a sinusoidal pulse is generated, PEC uses a square pulse signal to induce eddy currents within the material under test. 

When an eddy current probe is excited by an electrical current, a magnetic field is generated which, when positioned on a coated surface has the ability to penetrate those layers and settle in the conductive material beneath, inducing eddy currents. Once the excitation current has been removed, the magnetic field will dissipate and the induced eddy currents will decay, gauged by the probe and the factors used to calculate the wall thickness.

Maxwell’s new PECT instrument, comprising of a ruggedized tablet computer and data acquisition unit, is splash-proof, robust and easy to operate and incorporates rapid data collection (two measurements per second) and scanning mode. The collected data is analysed in real-time with various quality control features, allowing optimal results.

Fast and reliable PECT measurements require a high-energy magnetic pulse, delivered by a dedicated powerful battery inside the data acquisition unit. To ensure optimal power allocation, the tablet computer is powered separately by two long-life lithium batteries.

There are four standard probes, each for a different lift-off range. The probes are optimized for defect sensitivity and can either be operated from the probe itself or from the instrument.

Colour-coded wall thickness readings are displayed on the touch screen display during data recording after which an MS-Excel field report can be produced quickly.

In addition, PC-based software is provided for further analysis and reporting.

Notes: When ordering Rotatng Probes 0.1mm is automatcally taken of probe diameter during manufacture, this should be good for typical hole conditon and manufacturing tolerances. Where tolerances are poor allow for greater clearance. 

Example: To inspect a 12.7 (1/2”) hole a 12.7mm dia. probe should be ordered which will be manufactured to a 12.6mm dia..

Internal Diameter (ID) Probes - Bridge

Differential ID Probes: For internal diameter tube inspecton, ideal for inspectng tubular heat exchangers.

Specification: 

• Probe diameters from 7.5 to 150mm, available in 0.1mm steps.
• Disconnectable and integral probe cables.
• Cable lengths from 3.0 to 30 meters.
• Frequency range from 2.7 kHz to 1MHz, centre frequencies 2.7, 10, 24, 76, 190, 400kHz.
• Cross axis and driver/pickup optons also available on request. 

Notes: When ordering ID probes allow 0.8 to 1.5mm less than the tube diameter, This should be good for typical tube conditon and manufacturing tolerances. Where tolerances are poor allow for greater clearance. Tape can be used were necessary to reduce probe ‘wobble’.

Low Frequency (Spot Face) Probes, Straight and 90°

Reflection Sub Surface Probes: for general purpose inspecton of sub-surface corrosion and flaws. This probe has excellent depth penetraton making it ideal for mult-layer inspectons.

Conductivity Test Block

Used as a reference in the application of electrical conductvity measurement of non-ferrous metals. Ideal for both laboratory and field use. Blocks are supplied with calibration certificates. Calibration: Blocks are tested and are certified and traceable to National Standard (NPL, UK) Conductvity References. Blocks are calibrated at 20°C, at a frequency of 60kHz and to an accuracy of +/- 1.2% of the value or +/-0.4% IACS; whichever is less.

APPLICATION 

Apply PFINDER 150 undiuted while magnetizing. Indications will appear immediately under UVlight (365nm). The capability of the magnetic particle suspension should be checked regularly by means of own reference pieces or e.g. reference block 1 according EN ISO 9934-3.

Pfinder 251 Black Magnetic Ink

PFINDER 251 is a ready-to-use-suspension of black magnetic particles in low-viscos carrier oil with special additives for magnetic particle testing. With PFINDER 251 surface defects of magnetizable materials can be indicated under daylight conditions. The particle concentration of PFINDER 251 meets the requirements of ASTM / AMS. 

APPLICATION

Cover surfaces to be tested thinly and evenly with white contrast paint PFINDER 280. Allow to dry. Apply PFINDER 251 while magnetizing. Black indications will appear immediately on the white background. The capability of the magnetic particle suspension should be checked regularly by means of own reference pieces or e.g. reference block 1 according EN ISO 9934-3.

Pfinder 280 White Contrast Paint

PFINDER 280 is a quick-drying white contrast paint for magnetic particle testing. In combination with magnetic particles, e.g. magnetic particle suspension PFINDER 251 surface defects of magnetizable materials can be indicated under daylight conditions. The product is applicated by direct spraying on the surface to be tested.

APPLICATION 

Cover surfaces to be tested thinly and evenly with white contrast paint PFINDER 280. Allow to dry. Apply black magnetic suspension (e.g. PFINDER 251) while magnetizing. Black indications will appear immediately on the white background. The capability of the penetrant system should be checked regularly by means of own reference pieces or e.g. reference test block 2 according EN ISO 3452-3.

Pfinder 800 Dual Colour Contrast + Fluorescent Penetrant

PFINDER 800 is a hydrocarbon-free, directly water-washable and readily biodegradable colour contrast penetrant (red + fluorescent) for crack detection of surfaces. Due to its removability PFINDER 800 provides a low residual background even on rough surfaces and therefore a userfriendly interpretability of the indications. PFINDER 800 is qualified for penetrant testing at temperatures between -20°C to +100°C (temperature of work part) accoring to EN ISO 3452-5 and EN ISO 3452-6.

APPLICATION

The capability of the penetrant system should be checked regularly by means of own reference pieces or e.g. reference test block 2 according EN ISO 3452-3. For applications at temperatures below +10°C and above +50°C, penetration time has to be adapted.

Pfinder 860 Colour Contrast Penetrant

PFINDER 860 is a hydrocarbon free, directly water-washable colour contrast penetrant (red) for crack detection of surfaces. Pfinder 871 Developer - Fast Drying

PFINDER 871 is a solvent-based fast-drying wet developer for penetrant testing. It is suitable for colour contrast and fluorescent penetrant testing. PFINDER 871 can be wiped off from the surface or easily removed with water after testing. PFINDER 871 is qualified for penetrant testing at temperatures between -20°C to +70°C (temperature of work part) according to EN ISO 3452-5 and EN ISO 3452-6.

APPLICATION

The capability of the penetrant system should be checked regularly by means of own reference pieces or e.g. reference test block 2 according EN ISO 3452-3. Before use shake spray can thoroughly until mixing balls can be heard.

Pfinder 890 Cleaner/Remover

PFINDER 890 is a special cleaner based on isopropanol / acetone for penetrant and magnetic particle testing. PFINDER 890 is used as precleaner for removal of oils and greases from the surface to be tested, as approved remover of PFINDER penetrants or as remover of PFINDER contrast paint. PFINDER 890 is particulary suitable for general cleaning and removal of oils and greases. Material compartibibility (e.g. for plastics) has to be checked beforehand.

APPLICATION 

For precleaning or as all-purpose cleaner: Applicate PFINDER 890 to the surface to be cleaned, if necessary allow time to react and if required wipe off with a cloth. For excess penetrant removal: Spray PFINDER 890 on a cloth and clean surface to be tested. Do not spray directly on the surface! For removal of PFINDER contrast paint: Spray on surface to be cleaned, if necessary allow time to react and remove paint by wiping off with a cloth or by additional spraying. Pfinder 895 Cleaner/Remover
