MICROSCOPIC ANALYSIS OF METALS

Microscopy is to see the microstructure of the surface and analysis of it is Microscopy Analysis. This helps to define the characteristics of a material or object and hence quality can be determined.

Microscopic analysis ensures product quality and integrity to meet industrial standards. ULTRASONIC TESTING

Ultrasonic inspection is a non-destructive method in which frequency sound NDT Services waves are introduced into the material being inspected. Most Ultrasonic inspection is done at frequencies between 0.5 and 20 MHz, well above the travel through the material with some loss of energy. 

Ultrasonic inspection methods 

Ultrasonic inspection is based on electronic transducers that transmit excessive-frequency sound waves to a material. These sound waves get better pictures, which screen key traits of a fabric’s residences. The pix created by using ultrasonic checking out can indicate cracks, welds, grooves, and fractures, as well as imply cloth thickness and shifting components. A common example is ultrasonic thickness measurement, which tests the thickness of the test object, for example, to monitor pipework corrosion. MAGNETIC PARTICLE TESTING

Magnetic Particle Testing is widely used to detect surface bows in ferromagnetic materials. It is used to locate surface and near-surface defects such as cracks, laps, seams, and inclusions. Magnetic Particle Testing (MPT) is also known as Magnetic Particle Inspection (MPI). MPT / MPI is based on the principle of magnetism. Defects are identified as magnetic flux leakage occurs when there is a discontinuity in magnetized ferromagnetic material and fine iron particles sprinkled over specimens create cluster formation. MPT/MPI is the most widely used method as it is also known as the fastest method of NDT inspection.
Magnetic Particle Testing is used to identify surface and subsurface defects. Defects in depth are inspected till 0.6-inch depth only (Under ideal condition). To inspect surface defects we use AC current and for subsurface defects, we use DC current. Surface preparation is not as critical as in DPT and it is also known as the planer testing method.

Magnetic particle inspection comprises the following basic steps: 

Pre-cleaning of component
Magnetization of a test object
Application of magnetic media
Interpretation of magnetic particle indications
The test object should be clean and dry before beginning the inspection process. The presence of oil, grease, or scale may compromise the inspection.
