Position Summary:

As a Business Development Manager at Ashtead Technology, you will be a vital part of our Survey and Robotics service line. Your role will involve identifying new business opportunities, crafting growth strategies, and cultivating strong client relationships. Collaborating closely with our sales and marketing teams, you will develop and implement effective business plans aimed at driving revenue growth. Key Responsibilities:

Business Development Strategy:

  • Collaborate with the regional manager and senior leadership to devise sustainable revenue growth strategies in existing and new service areas and geographical regions.
  • Identify and cultivate cross-selling opportunities that expand the utilization of our products and services.
  • Enhance revenue streams by nurturing client relationships and understanding their needs and strategic objectives.
  • Build and maintain robust client relationships, establishing trust and confidence in our ability to deliver excellent service and win profitable new business.
  • Act as a prominent representative for Ashtead Technology through networking, client meetings, industry event attendance, lunch and learn sessions, and the organization of client entertainment events.

Market Intelligence:

  • Continuously monitor market trends, customer preferences, supplier dynamics, and competitor activities.
  • Effectively capture and report market intelligence to support strategic decision-making processes.


  • Collaborate closely with colleagues across the organization to identify and deliver solutions for strategic, technical, service delivery, contractual, and commercial challenges affecting client account performance.
  • Provide internal support to the sales and tender team throughout the tender lifecycle, liaising with clients when necessary.
  • Work closely with the Service Line delivery teams across Ashtead Technology to stay informed about the organization's product and service range, identifying and evaluating client opportunities to support their operations and secure profitable work.

Reporting & Communication:

  • Maintain and develop the Business Development action plan for the relevant service line/region, outlining key client/target account strategies and action plans for winning new projects.
  • Maintain and update the regional "map the market " analysis as a live market view document, incorporating continually updated market intelligence from across the organization.
  • Regularly circulate client contact reports (CCRs), ensuring a minimum of five per week, with assigned actions followed up.
  • Manage and advance the opportunities pipeline database within the CRM.
  • Contribute to the annual financial budget and quarterly forecasting exercises.

  • Able to manage workload independently while working collaboratively to achieve common goals in a demanding environment.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Extensive experience in Business Development/Commercial roles, ideally within the offshore equipment and services sector.
  • A proven track record of achieving revenue growth through sales and business development efforts regionally and internationally.
  • The ability to consistently and effectively win and secure new business, with a strong commercial instinct and an in-depth understanding of contracting principles.
  • The capability to cultivate strong client relationships and oversee the sales cycle from initial contact to order closure and ongoing client relationship management.
  • Proficiency in IT tools, including Excel and PowerPoint.
