Position Summary:
Acuren is seeking a skilled Pipeline Integrity Technician to join their Pipeline Integrity Services group. This role involves conducting a variety of technical and operational assignments related to pipeline field examination, analysis, review, and reporting of pipeline inspection data. The Pipeline Integrity Technician will spend approximately 90% of their time in the field, including remote areas across the US, with the remaining 10% at the home division location.
Key Responsibilities:
- Adhere to Acuren and customer-required procedures and specifications, including accurate and timely reporting.
- Perform direct assessments of as-found pipe conditions, including coating assessments, soil and topography evaluations, and cathodic protection assessments.
- Conduct direct examinations to assess pipelines for cracks, corrosion, deformation, and manufacturing anomalies.
- Correlate as-found pipeline features to Inline Inspection (ILI) logs.
- Conduct fit-for-service evaluations according to ASME B31.3 and RSTRENG standards.
- Perform hazard assessments prior to work and follow safe work procedures.
- Calibrate and set up NDE equipment as required.
- Provide high-quality services to clients within the agreed timelines.
- Follow regulatory requirements and work according to codes, procedures, and techniques.
- Maintain custody, care, and proper use of technical equipment, tools, machinery, publications, materials, job items, vehicles, and other assets.
- Understand and apply pipeline integrity processes, techniques, and procedures.
- Compose and write pipeline integrity inspection reports, assisting other technicians with reporting when necessary.
- Maintain metrics on reporting, costs, productivity, and priority digs.
- Update pipeline integrity databases and manage FTP sites.
- Attend operational meetings with customer engineers and project managers.
- Assist with dig package preparation and cost estimating.
- Provide on-the-job training and guidance to PLI Assistants and PLI Junior Technicians.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; some college education preferred.
- Technical background desired, with experience in pipeline integrity or pipeline maintenance positions.
- Extensive knowledge of quality and safety requirements.
- Current and valid certifications in Magnetic Particle Testing Level 2 and Ultrasonic Thickness Level 2.
- At least one of the following certifications or endorsements: Creaform 3D Laser Scanning (Handyscan), Automated Corrosion Scan Mapping, Ultrasonic Phased Array or TOFD, In-situ Material Verification (Frontics or MMT HSD Tester).
- Preference for candidates with NACE Level CIP Level I or CP Level I certification.
