Position Summary
The NDT Technician at AET provides technical expertise across multiple nondestructive testing industries, including structural steel, manufacturing, machining, power generation, and petro-chemical sectors. This role supports the execution of NDT services in accordance with industry standards such as AWS, ASME, ASTM, API, AISC, and UBC, as well as state regulations and AET’s QA/QC procedures. The technician contributes to the development, efficiency, and technical capabilities of the NDT department.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform MT, PT, UT, RT, and VT examinations, interpret results, and prepare detailed reports.
- Maintain certification in MT, PT, UT, RT, and VT inspection techniques.
- Maintain current procedures and equipment calibrations for the NDT department.
- Maintain client contact for ongoing projects and coordinate with the NDT manager to prepare proposals and schedule laboratory and field testing activities.
- Assist with coordination of full-time and intermittent field projects, including reporting and invoicing.
- Assist in promoting and marketing AET and the NDT department.
- Participate in training to obtain and maintain certifications; remain current with NDT technologies used by AET.
- Conduct field, laboratory, and office activities in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations, and AET’s QA and Health and Safety Policies.
- Interact effectively with diverse individuals, work well within project teams, resolve issues constructively, and operate independently in the field.

Qualifications and Education Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record; some roles may require the use of a personal vehicle.
- Compliance with DOT driver regulations and physicals if required.
- Ability to meet requirements for Assistant Radiographer and be working toward ASNT-TC-1A for UT, MT, PT, and RT methods.
Preferred Skills
- Associate Degree in Non-Destructive Testing Technology or Welding Certification.
Physical Demands
- Occasionally move 50–70 pounds.
- Stand up to 80% of the day, often on uneven surfaces.
- Move up to 80% of the day with frequent climbing, bending, and stooping.
- Occasionally work in confined spaces.
- Occasionally work at elevations up to 200 feet using proper safety equipment.
Pay Transparency
- Base compensation: $21.00 – $27.00 per hour (or $21–$30 hourly as provided), depending on skills and experience.
