Position Summary

The Mechanical Test Engineer is responsible for conducting mechanical and climatic testing in accordance with relevant standards, regulatory requirements, and defined test plans. The role supports the delivery of comprehensive environmental testing services, working closely with customers, maintaining accurate documentation, and contributing to efficiency improvements within the laboratory. The engineer collaborates with team members and supervisors to ensure testing is completed accurately, safely, and within required timescales.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct mechanical testing to relevant standards, regulatory requirements, and defined test plans.
  • Work closely with customers during attended testing.
  • Record test results using electronic logbook systems and prepare test reports following company quality procedures.
  • Liaise with customers regarding test specifications, execution, and interpretation of results.
  • Coordinate closely with the test supervisor to ensure accurate and timely completion of work.
  • Support the development and refinement of test plans with customers.
  • Assist in developing test methods and departmental documentation.
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities to enhance testing efficiency, procedures, and processes.

Essential Requirements

  • Experience in a test laboratory environment.

Highly Desirable Requirements

  • Practical experience delivering mechanical test services, including operation of vibration shaker equipment.
  • Practical experience delivering climatic test services.
  • Knowledge of test laboratory quality and operating procedures.

Desirable Requirements

  • Motivated and enthusiastic, with a willingness to learn.
  • Flexible approach to work, including willingness to work overtime, ad hoc shifts, or at customer sites as required.
  • Strong numerical, logical, organizational, and analytical skills.
  • Good understanding of IT systems such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team to meet defined deadlines.
  • Conscientious, with strong interpersonal and communication skills, and a commitment to providing excellent customer experience.
