Position Summary
The Level II RT Technician is responsible for independently conducting nondestructive testing inspections using various NDT techniques to identify corrosion, defects, or other detrimental conditions according to defined written criteria. This role involves interpreting inspection indications, documenting results in line with company requirements, and clearly communicating procedures and outcomes to customers. The technician also contributes to on-site training and supports safe work practices while maintaining required NDT certifications.
Essential Job Functions
- Maintains a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following Company/Customer safety standards, practices, and legal regulations, and alerting others to potential hazards.
- Performs all assigned duties while adhering to TEAM’s Core Values and Seven Critical Choices.
- Assists the Sr. Technician and instructs apprentice-level personnel on the job.
- Studies to gain NDT certifications while obtaining hands-on experience in various NDT methods.
- Performs any duties assigned by the Sr. Technician on the job.
- Conducts supervisory activities over apprentice personnel as needed.
- Maintains NDT certification.
- Performs NDT inspections for which the technician is certified.
- Interprets and reports inspection results and maintains all documentation related to inspection activities.
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Understanding of basic math
- Ability to work in Microsoft Word
- Ability to work with computers/computerized equipment
- Ability to read, understand, and communicate in English
- Minimum 2 years of experience in the NDT field as a certified technician in at least two methods
- Previous Level II certification in at least one method (PT, MT, UT, RT, ET) preferred
- Travel requirement: 0–75%
- Ability to handle chemicals safely
- Ability to follow instructions
Work Conditions
- Position based at a branch or site location
- Field duties require indoor and outdoor work in plant environments
- Interaction with crew employees, supervisors, and client personnel
- Work around production machinery with extreme noise levels
- Must wear safety equipment as required
- May work at multiple job sites in a single day; must tolerate climate changes
- May require periodic out-of-town travel
Physical and Mental Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry 75 pounds
- Ability to walk and climb except when performing non-field duties
- Sufficient speech, hearing, and communication abilities to perform job tasks
- Adequate vision or other observational capability to conduct inspections
- Manual dexterity to perform routine duties
- Mobility and physical reflexes required for office tasks and travel
- Ability to maneuver in refinery or plant environments, including elevated platforms, ladders, and stairwells
- Ability to maintain focus and multitask effectively
- Excellent communication skills
