Nondestructive Testing (NDT) Level II Technician
Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled NDT Level II Technician to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing calibrations, NDT, and evaluations to determine acceptance or rejection of materials and products according to written instructions. The candidate will also be responsible for setting up and calibrating equipment, interpreting and evaluating results, and organizing and reporting test results. The candidate must be thoroughly familiar with the scope and limitations of the NDT method being used, exercise assigned responsibility for on-the-job training and guidance of Assistants and Level I Technicians, and adhere strictly to safety regulations.
Responsibilities:
- Set up and calibrate nondestructive testing equipment.
- Conduct tests to ensure quality or detect discontinuities (defects) using NDT methods of inspection.
- Establish techniques for proper examination of objects under inspection, ensuring strict adherence to safety regulations.
- Apply testing criteria by applicable specifications or standards and evaluate results.
- Interpret radiographs, cathode ray tubes (CRT) or digital readouts, conductivity meters, and visual indicators.
- Organize and report test results.
- Perform specialized inspections.
- Instruct and supervise others as needed.
- Interface daily with the client about work priorities and the progress of projects.
- Actively participate in client programs, planning, and strategy sessions.
- Work closely with clients to identify and remove obstacles.
- Actively participate in client safety initiatives, incident investigations, etc.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor's degree preferred.
- At least 2-4 years of experience in NDT, with certification as an NDT Level II Technician required.
- Familiarity with applicable codes, standards, and specifications is required.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and manuals required.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite is required.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required.
- Ability to work in a team environment and provide guidance to others required.
- Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand or sit for extended periods.
- Ability to work in confined spaces, at heights, and in outdoor environments.
