Position Summary:

MISTRAS Group, Inc. is seeking experienced Level II MT/PT Technicians for full-time positions in the East Granby, CT area. The successful candidates will be responsible for setting up and calibrating equipment, conducting non-destructive testing (NDT) using Magnetic Particle Testing (MT) and Penetrant Testing (PT) techniques and interpreting and documenting the results. Key Responsibilities:

  • Set up and calibrate non-destructive testing equipment.
  • Conduct tests using Magnetic Particle Testing (MT) and Penetrant Testing (PT) techniques to ensure the integrity of materials and components.
  • Interpret, evaluate, and document test results according to industry standards and company procedures.
  • Direct the work of trainees and Level I personnel, providing guidance and supervision as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and contractual documents.
  • Identify and resolve problems in a timely manner, analyzing information skillfully and effectively.
  • Communicate clearly and persuasively in both written and oral formats.
  • Maintain a high level of accuracy and quality in all work, monitoring own performance to ensure excellence.
  • Promote and adhere to safety procedures, using all equipment and materials properly.

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Graduate of a specialized NDT technical program meeting SNT-TC-1A standards for MT and/or PT.
  • Prior certification as an NDE Level II Technician with one (1) year of experience or prior certification as an NDE Level I Technician with sufficient field experience hours to certify to Level II per SNT-TC-1A standards.
  • Proficiency in problem-solving, oral and written communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong planning and organizational abilities, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Adaptability to changes in the work environment, with the ability to manage competing demands and unexpected events.
  • Dependability, with a strong track record of being punctual, following instructions, and responding positively to management feedback.
  • Commitment to safety and quality, with a demonstrated ability to promote and adhere to safety procedures.

Working Conditions:

  • Field duties require outdoor work in a plant atmosphere.
  • Interaction with other crew employees, supervisors, and clients.
  • Working in plant and/or shop areas around production machinery with extreme noise levels.
  • Must be physically fit and able to frequently lift and carry 50 pounds for radiography work.
  • Must be able to wear safety equipment as required by the safety department for personal protection.
  • Ability to tolerate climate change and work at more than one job site in a day.
  • May be required to travel out of town periodically.

Essential Physical Functions:

  • Ability to frequently lift and carry 50 pounds.
  • Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing, with or without reasonable accommodation, to communicate effectively.
  • Sufficient vision, with or without reasonable accommodations, to conduct investigations and interpret test results.
  • Sufficient manual dexterity, with or without reasonable accommodations, to perform routine duties.
  • Sufficient mobility and physical reflexes, with or without reasonable accommodations, to maneuver within a refinery or plant environment, including access to elevated platforms via ladders and stairwells.
