Lynn La Pietra wins big at the 2022 Stevie Awards for Women in Business

Carestream NDT’s Digital Research and Development leader, Lynn La Pietra, has won the coveted Silver Stevie Award in the Most Innovative Woman of the Year – Technology category at the 2022 Stevie Awards for Women in Business.

An innovation translator and one of few women leaders in the NDT industry, Dr. La Pietra has been instrumental in developing products to detect problems in complex infrastructures across industries. After receiving the news, Dr. La Pietra was quoted as saying, “I am among a field of very talented women with many outstanding credentials. Just being a finalist has been a tremendous honour. As women in business, we recognize how diverse thought can be transformative to technology and to the industry, so thank you, Stevie Awards, for recognizing our gifts and achievements.”

Carestream NDT’s breakthrough technology, its first non-glass large format detector, HPX-DR 3543 PE, illustrates Dr. La Pietra’s approach; “collaboration yields success”. She directed developing the technology, originally designed for a medical device, toward NDT, a completely different industry.

The new, next-generation non-glass detector is built for durability and reliability in harsh environments. It is the culmination of a collaboration between Carestream NDT and customers, leveraging technology to address unique needs. It resolves a challenge—glass used in a detector panel could break, resulting in downtime and associated expenses.

She further added, “With over 25 years in research, I’ve found there can be a multiplicative power to one’s own innovative abilities by combining with another, or even better, a team—it’s the collaborative power that can bring forth grand innovation. I am grateful and proud of my team for their dedication and multiplicative innovative spirit.”

The Stevie Awards for Women in Business honour women executives, entrepreneurs, employees, and the companies they run—worldwide. More than 1,500 entries were submitted this year for consideration in more than 100 categories, including Executive of the Year, Entrepreneur of the Year, Company of the Year, Startup of the Year, Women Helping Women and Women Run Workplace of the Year. Gold, Silver and Bronze Stevie Award winners are determined by the average scores of more than 200 business professionals worldwide working on eight juries.
